​Dr Kavitha Kothur is a paediatric neurologist and postdoctoral fellow with a special interest in epilepsy genetics/surgery, cerebral palsy, neuroinflammation and brain injury.

Her clinical and research aims are to improve genetic diagnosis, biomarkers and treatment of children with neurological disorders and epilepsy to improve outcomes.

She is working as NHMRC Senior Research Fellow with  the University of Sydney and staff specialist in largest children’s Hospital in NSW, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW). She was awarded PhD in 2018 through University of Sydney and leads epilepsy research program at Kids Neuroscience Centre.  She and her team presented her research as oral and poster presentations at local, national, and international conferences.​

 

She published her research in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research work in national and international child neurology conferences.

She is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Child Neurology Society (ANZCNS), Epilepsy Society of Australia, Royal Australasian College of Physicians, International Child Neurology Congress.

She is a mother of two young girls and understands family needs and challenges faced by the families.
